Social Bookmarking Sites

I recently posted about using social bookmarking sites to get the word out about my test ‘blogging for money site’; blog T. There are a ton of options when it comes to social sites and to tell you the truth they all overwhelmed me a little. I picked out some of the sites that I figured had the most opportunity and ‘reputation’ to help tell the world about my blog so here are the sites I chose to submit to.
Propeller, Slashdot, Digg, Technorati, Del.icio.us, Stumbleupon, Twitter, Reddit, Furl, Sphinn, Blinklist, Faves, Spurl, Diigo, Backflip, Buddy Marks and Jumptags. Now this took me some time to do as there is a need to register first before being able to use the service. But hopefully soon there will be some good outcomes from giving my test site some high profile exposure.
As I already mentioned, there are a great deal of social bookmarking sites that can be utilised for getting my site, or yours if you’re following along, noticed. The reason we want our sites noticed is two fold, to gain traffic and to get backlinks. If there is one thing that I keep getting advised by the few mentors I follow, it is to get backlinks to my sites which should result in the site being somewhat ‘popular’ in Google’s eyes. Why should you care if Google likes your site or not? Obvious isn’t it: if Google likes the site then it just might rank higher in their search engine results pages, which in turn can mean lots of targeted free traffic!
I’m sure there are some social bookmarking tools to help me make the most of this craze but time has meant that I’ve only been able to submit to the few sites I’ve mentioned above. I’ll spend a little time looking for options that can help the time poor like me and let you know what I come up with in my next post.
