Make Money Blogging
Now that I’ve built my blog, uploaded a theme and a lovely new header I’m sure that I can make money blogging. Why couldn’t I, the site looks lovely, nice header, nice colours, what more could a visitor want. Oh yeah, content. Well before content there a few other things I need to set up.
There are various plugins for Wordpress blogs and some of them you just can’t do without. I have uploaded via my FTP (gee I feel clever every time I do that:)), several plugins. My non-technical view of a plugin is that it is like a mini program that you can install within your Wordpress site that does additional things that are really useful.
To make money blogging my site really needs to be visible to the search engines such as Google, Yahoo and MSN. To help with that I have installed a plugin called Google XML Sitemaps. This was very easy and I only had to tick a couple of boxes and it was done.
From there I headed over to the Google Webmaster Tools. The Google Webmaster Tools are a fantastic way to let Google know your site exists so I did just that: I submitted my site map to them. Along with that I verified my site which is a very simple little process too. It’s as simple as that and now Google knows my site exists.
I then went to Yahoo and MSN and manually submitted the url to them too so hopefully they will index my new site soon so I can make money blogging sooner rather than later!
Before I go any further with the site I really need to ad some interesting content to it. There is no use having a lovely looking site with nothing for anyone to read or gain any real value from. As much as I didn’t want to spend money to reach my goal I think I might have to. My time is limited so I’m going to hunt down some tools I can use to help me with writing content.
In my next post I’ll share how I’ve gone about writing my blog posts and will fill you in on all the tools I used to manage the process with. I really believe anyone can make money blogging but so far I’ve discovered that if you want instant success it won’t come. Site building and navigating your way around all the different aspects can take time to learn but I can see that it will become second nature in a very short amount of time which is the good news.
